It may be recalled that His Excellency the Governor of the Yunnan Province of the People's Republic of China had visited Nepal last month. NC leader Koirala’s visit to Yunnan Province is a continuation of the tradition of exchange of visits between Nepal and China at various levels. These bilateral visits have helped us to further widen and deepen the friendship between Nepali Congress, Govt of Nepal and Communist Party of China and to further enhance the areas of cooperation between our two countries.

Kunming occupies a frontal place for China to connect with Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East, South Europe and Africa.
Nepal and China are natural friends and neighbors. Our relationship has been age old, and marked by mutual support, understanding and appreciation of each others' aspirations and sensitivities .This relationship is guided by the spirit of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence.

During Hon. Sujata Koirala’s visit to Kunming, she had interactive meetings with the Yunnan Energy Investment Group ,Yunnan Baiyao Group Co. Ltd, and Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center. She visited the historic Stone Forest, Yunnan Provincial Investment Group, and Chennong Agricultural Group. The discussions covered areas of cooperation in energy, bio-pharmacy, agriculture, education and infrastructure. A Preliminary MOU was signed agreeing to institutionalize cooperation in these areas, after necessary consultations with concerned departments followed by the exchange of visits at expert levels. Hon. Sujata Koirala also visited Kunming Medical University where she was greeted by the President of the University Prof. Mr JIANG Runsheng and held discussion about the possible cooperation between educational institutions of two countries.

As China is hosting the 2nd China –South Asia Exposition in Kunming, Leader Koirala was briefed by the senior officials of the Yunnan International Expositions Bureau about the ongoing preparations at the Exposition of the Kunming International and Exhibition Center. It may be recalled that Nepal has been chosen to be the Country of Honor for the Exposition and the rotating presidency for the 9th China –South Asia Business Forum.

Hon. Sujata Koirala, who is also the Chairperson of Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation, had very fruitful discussions on developing areas of cooperation between the GP Koirala Foundation and the China Foundation for Peace and Development in the future.
